Extended validation (EV)

SDH EV SSL

Choose extended validation when your organization requires more extensive identity checks for its main website. SDH EV SSL combines single-domain HTTPS coverage with the issuing CA's EV verification process.

Extended validation for one main domain.

EV concerns the depth of organization verification. The included coverage remains one domain and its eligible www/non-www pair, with domain control checked as part of the request.

EV does not automatically include extra domains, wildcard names, malware protection or a particular browser badge. The additional value is the CA's more extensive identity validation.

Where SDH EV SSL fits.

Start with the addresses you need to protect and the identity checks your organization requires.

A public-facing service that has deliberately selected EV after reviewing coverage and operational responsibilities.

HTTPS encrypts data in transit between supported clients and a correctly configured server. It does not guarantee that a website is malware-free or replace secure application and server administration.

Before you begin

Have the right access and information ready.

Confirm the organization's legal identity, authorization contact and exact domain before applying. Be ready to provide the information requested by the CA through the agreed secure validation process.

Certificate request preparation for SDH EV SSL.
  • Domain control. Access to an available CA-approved validation method for the requested names.
  • Compatible hosting. A server or hosting service that accepts a separately supplied certificate, with an administrator available to install it.
  • A certificate signing request (CSR). Your administrator generates it and keeps the corresponding private key secure.
  • Organization details. The legal name and an appropriate contact for the CA's extended verification. Supporting information depends on the CA's requirements.
  • A replacement plan. Someone responsible for later reissues, installation and manual renewal.

A CSR is request data, not a private key. Keep private keys, passwords, payment-card details and identity documents out of ordinary website enquiry forms.

A manual process, with clear responsibilities

How ordering works.

SDH coordinates your certificate order. The CA performs validation and issuance; your administrator handles installation.

    Choose coverage and term

Select the prepaid period for SDH EV SSL. Review the full upfront total and confirm the names and validation requirements with SDH before proceeding.

  2. Prepare the certificate request for SDH EV SSL.

    Prepare the certificate request

Provide a CSR for the selected domain, confirm the www pairing and nominate an organization contact able to coordinate the CA's extended validation checks.

  3. Complete the CA's validation for SDH EV SSL.

    Complete the CA's validation

The CA checks domain control and applies its EV organization and authorization requirements. Additional checks can take business days and depend on the application's completeness and acceptance.

  4. Install and check HTTPS for SDH EV SSL.

    Install and check HTTPS

Your administrator installs the issued certificate and chain, configures HTTPS and checks the secured names. Later reissuance can require this step again.

A prepaid term is different from certificate validity.

Your selected 1 year prepaid period is paid in full upfront. It does not produce one certificate valid for an unrestricted period. CA and browser rules determine individual certificate validity. Later reissuance, validation and installation may be required within the prepaid subscription.

Frequently asked questions

More about SDH EV SSL.

Prism Wings Dot reviewing an extended organization validation checklist.
Choose EV for its identity checks

Choose EV for its organization checks. It does not promise a green browser bar or stronger encryption than properly configured DV.

Does EV encrypt data more strongly than DV?

Validation level primarily changes the identity checks. Correctly issued and configured DV, OV and EV certificates can all secure HTTPS connections. EV should be selected for its identity requirements rather than a promised encryption ranking.

Is a green address bar included?

No browser display is promised. Browser vendors control how certificate information is shown, and EV does not guarantee a green address bar or a company name beside the URL.

Can I buy EV wildcard coverage?

No EV wildcard product is offered in this SDH catalog. Consider SDH EV Multi-Domain SSL for three explicit eligible names, or OV Wildcard SSL if wildcard coverage and OV fit the requirement.

Is installation included with SDH EV SSL?

No. The certificate purchase does not include installation, server repair, mixed-content fixes or continuous certificate management. Your hosting administrator installs and verifies the certificate; ask SDH about separately agreed assistance if needed.

Does a five-year purchase mean one certificate lasts five years?

No. The prepaid term is the purchased subscription period. Individual certificate validity is subject to CA and browser requirements, so you may need reissuance, validation and replacement installation during that period.

How will renewal be handled?

Renewal is arranged manually; pricing will be confirmed before renewal. New validation and issuance steps may be needed. The current prepaid price is not a promise of future renewal pricing or automatic renewal.
